A Local Love Story – Emily and Dan’s wedding was one of those days that reminds me exactly why I love being a wedding florist in Birmingham.
They chose to keep everything beautifully local, with their ceremony at St Mary’s Church in Moseley Village and their reception at the much-loved Kitchen Garden Café in Kings Heath. Two brilliant Birmingham spots, full of warmth, character and community – and a perfect match for a relaxed, heartfelt wedding day.
For their flowers, Emily and Dan wanted everything to feel natural, thoughtful and full of personality. I created:
- A soft, romantic bridal bouquet for Emily
- Coordinating bridesmaid bouquets
- Buttonholes for the wedding party
- Two statement bay trees, dressed with flowers and twinkling lights
There’s something especially lovely about working so close to home. From a church in Moseley Village to a reception in Kings Heath, this wedding was a true celebration of Birmingham – and I loved being part of it.

Emily later sent me this message, which genuinely made my week:
“I can’t really begin to put into words what a professional, joyful, expert, organised and beautiful florist Ashley is! Please suffice to say that if you want out of this world, designed for you, perfectly curated flowers for your wedding look no further!… I could cry thinking about the joy I had when I saw them, please think of Ashley for all your florist needs you cannot find a more perfect person.”
Messages like this are everything. Knowing that the flowers added joy, emotion and magic to their day is exactly why I do what I do.
Birmingham streets as a backdrop
One of my favourite things about this wedding was seeing Emily and Dan step straight out into their own neighbourhood. From Moseley Village to Kings Heath High Street, their portraits feel so unmistakably Birmingham – relaxed, real and full of character. Your bouquet doesn’t just belong in a grand venue; it should feel right in your world, whether that’s a church porch or the middle of your local high street.

Bouquets with personality
Emily’s bouquet was designed to feel generous and expressive, with dahlias, roses, textural seed heads and trailing Amaranthus. It had movement, softness and depth – romantic without being overly polished. The bridesmaids’ bouquets echoed this palette, tying everyone together while letting each person shine.
