Polka Dot Begonia – Begonia Maculata
Excuse the less than perfect images! I’ll take some better ones soon!!
This has got to be one of the most stylish house plants I have ever seen! Begonia’s are pretty cool anyway, they come in loads of amazing colours but this polka dot one is just something else!
A striking and distinctive plant with green silver spotted leaves with red undersides, it will flower too if you feed it.
Mostly known as polka dot plant but also sometimes called trout plant like the fish this because the leaves are kind of shimmery in the sunlight and they have a fish shaped leaves. I love this plant!
My favourite legend about this plant is that it’s said that Christian Louboutin ( the shoe designer) was inspired to create his signature red- soled stilettos after the red under leaves of this beautiful begonia! No one knows if this is actually true but I love the idea of this being a fashionista’s dream plant! Also cheaper than the shoes!!
